9 Immune Boosting Super Foods
By Chelsi Meil
This time of year it’s hard to keep up with the sudden weather change. So prepare yourself for anything with these super foods!
Garlic is an amazing super food. It’s packed with vitamin C and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. These benefits are better if you don’t cook the garlic. I always put a little raw garlic on top of my foods, just to get these benefits.
If these are too acidic, try strawberries, kale, cucumbers or even red peppers for another source of vitamin C.
This greeny-goodness has vitamin A and plenty of Vitamin C, along with antioxidants. It’s also better eaten raw, so you can blend it into a smoothie, or even a pasta dish.
Even adding it to the top of a fully cooked food will make it heat up, but not to the point of cooking out all these great benefits.
You can find this ground spice in most curries, but this little super food is a great anti-inflammatory! It can also help with gastrointestinal issues, arthritis and prevention and treatment of the common cold. And if you want an easy recipe for using this spice, try this Liquid Gold Cinnamon Tea, or even a Bedtime Tea.
Honey is a wonderful super food, and everyone at the office loves it! This sweetener is a natural antioxidant and can help fend off viruses. Try to buy locally since there’s evidence of honey helping with allergies as well.
This super food is full of Vitamins A, C and E and a handful of antioxidants. It’s better to have this veggie lightly cooked or just raw to keep those vitamins.
Green Tea is a great way to fight off a cold and its also great for the preventive approach. This tea contains most of the cold-fighting benefits you look for when you’re trying to get over being sick.
Sprinkling a little cinnamon onto your drinks can help you as well! cinnamon contains natural anti-inflammatory and anti-viral perks, plus it’s a natural sweetener!
